The guided visit to the Priamàr Monumental Complex takes place in the outdoor areas of the Genoese Fortress, which was built in several stages starting in 1542. Guided by the staff of the Civic Archaeological Museum, you will learn about the history of this huge military complex, built by destroying the old center of the medieval city of Savona, and retrace its architectural development. Starting from the Piazza d'Armi del Maschio, the central location of Genoese military power in Savona, the Palaces that still overlook this square will be illustrated. The visit will then continue in the moats and ramparts of the Fortress, and you will see some of the most important archaeological sites for understanding the history of the city of Savona before the Genoese conquest, including the excavation of the lost Cathedral. We look forward to seeing you!
