Embark on a guided tour of the Benedictine Monastery of Catania, one of the largest monasteries in Europe. Visit the most important areas including the two cloisters and the 16th-century cellar now used as the Library of the Department of Humanities (Unict). Continue to the Roman House that is visible right under a modern mezzanine used by the students as part of the Library, the Garden of the Novices, the famous 18th-century kitchens and cellars, the work of the architect Vaccarini, and the monumental staircase. Follow your guide through the labyrinthine corridors and majestic architecture of the monastic complex, on a journey through time, from the Roman age to the present day, a journey that is only possible thanks to the contemporary refurbishment project by the architect Giancarlo De Carlo.
